Wedding Preview Event 2012

We have just come out of the post Wedding Preview Event coma. The sheer excitement and effort it takes to pull off an event of this magnitude is mind boggling, and boy, was it phenomenal. Ahem…if I may say so myself.

When we were referred by our friend Jenny to fill an opening for a planner, we were psyched. This show concept has the potential to make traditional (may I say impersonal?) wedding conventions a thing of the past, to be thrown into the proverbial dust bin along with meringue-y dresses and cheap gold candelabras.

I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, but not without a big thank you to our fellow carny teammates. What an outstanding group of artists! Vendor credits can found be below the photos. If you use any of these photos please do not crop or edit Anna’s lovely work. Enjoy!

Fairies, woodland creatures, whimsy, friends, family, and an exorbitant amount of good nibbles (and, ahem, drinks). This event planner mama got to play out her own childhood fantasies for her daughter’s 3rd birthday. Seriously, what girl (big or little) doesn’t like throwing on fairy wings once in a while? We all need a little bit of magic.

Wine Country Wedding

Amongst rolling hills, a crisp blue sky, rich green vineyards, a bubbling river and wild horses galloping along the river bank Bryn & Oliver said “I Do.” What a day it was! This style savvy designer and her loving groom began their life together on a beautiful day at her parents’ home in Prosser, WA. We were honored to be a part of it. We knew the day would be amazing from our first meeting with Bryn and to see it come to life throughout our meetings was delightful. It was a pleasure to work with some top wedding vendors to include Emily Hall Photography and Sound EFX- DJ Cory Kolilis.

Love On A Sunny Day in March

How lucky are Nick and Nicola? Very. Not only has this wonderful couple found their perfect mate, celebrated their union with close friends and family, but they managed to pick the one sunny warm day in March. The Seattle weather gods blessed them.

When Nicola contacted us about coordinating the wedding, and she started sharing all the juicy little details that we event planners live for, we fell instantly in love. Small intimate beach wedding, vintage flair, aqua, purple tones, spring green. (Swoon)

Without further ado, we bring you…

5 Important Reasons to Hire a Wedding Planner for Your Wedding Day (from a Photographer’s Perspective)

As we move into wedding planning and engagement season, here is some thoughtful insight from talented Seattle wedding photographer, Emily Allen. You can visit her at www.solacearts.com

Let’s face it, not every wedding goes just as planned. In fact, most weddings don’t go exactly as planned, and having experienced a whole spectrum events, I think it’s about time I share my thoughts about this subject and why you might seriously consider having a professional available to put out your wedding day fires. If you received our September/October email newsletter, you saw the following article, but if you did not receive our email newsletter…well, get signed up so you don’t miss our next one!

5 Important Reasons to Hire a Wedding Planner for Your Wedding Day (from a Photographer’s Perspective)

Less Stress, More Fun
Weddings are notoriously stressful thanks to the many details and many personalities involved. Hiring a wedding planner to be present at your wedding celebration will allow them to field the stressful situations while you focus on looking your best and enjoying the unforgettable moments. Creating a buffer between you and the chaos will help you look more refreshed and radiant in your wedding pictures.

Picture Perfection – Timing the Day
Few couples realize how challenging it can be to keep a wedding on schedule. A skilled planner can time the day perfectly and communicate to everyone involved about what needs to happen at what time so that you have the time you need for the wedding pictures that are important to you. A photographer can only deliver you images they’ve been given time to create. When the schedule of the day is upset by any number of unexpected factors, a wedding planner can help get things on track and make sure your wedding experience is one you can remember with joy as you look through your beautiful wedding pictures.

Save Money without Sacrificing Style
Designing an event to reflect your personal style and taste comes at a price, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be a high price if you have a great wedding planner. Planners are experts in wedding economics, and they can bring many ideas to the table that you might not have thought of on your own…Ideas that give you great style at great savings. Also, many planners can save you money when you’re booking your other wedding vendors because of their established relationships with various caterers, florists, and photographers. The look of a professionally designed wedding shows through in the wedding pictures and helps to authentically tell your love story with style and sophistication.

Wisdom & Experience
Beautiful weddings don’t happen without a considerable amount of time and effort, and an experienced wedding planner knows all the nuances and details that must be attended to for an event to run smoothly. Hiring a wedding planner at least a few months in advance can help a couple identify small details that are easily overlooked, and there is no substitute for their wisdom and experience. A photographer is not at your wedding to be in your face, taking charge the events of your reception, or coaching you on how to cut the cake without making it fall over…your photographer will thank you if you have a planner there to do what a wedding planner does!

Peace of Mind
The best wedding planners know that their job is to design and execute a wedding that fulfills your personal creative vision at the budget you have set, not to take over and do their own thing at your expense. Hiring a good wedding planner will benefit you from start to finish, from helping you make important decisions about your day, to keeping your wedding events on-schedule, to wrapping up the straggling details once you’ve joyfully waved goodbye to your guests. It will give you peace of mind to know that a professional is there to assist you every step of the way, and it will create the best possible environment for your photographer to create amazing and creative photographs of your wedding.

Steven & Ashleigh 7-16-11

We had the pleasure of working with Steven & Ashleigh for their July wedding this summer. They are the perfect pair and FUN is the best word to describe them! Every ounce of the ceremony and reception was so personal that if you came to the wedding not knowing them, you would have left feeling like you had for years. From the thoughtful vows they wrote to each other, to the delicious favors (a German treat they loved to have when they lived there) they shared with their guests, the love this couple shares for each other was felt by everyone present. Not only are they adorable, they know how to have a great time! The bride and groom rocked the dance floor until the wee-hours with nearly all of their guests…to including Grandmother Betty & Great Aunt Etta! It was a beautiful evening and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment we were lucky enough to spend with these two! We wish you the best Mr. and Mrs. Beard! Thanks to Kaylee Eylander for the amazing photos!
